As expected, the movie got the biggest laugh from the mention of Fresno. Our much loved city actually gets compared to Paris. And, I am not talking about Paris, Tenn.
It was surprising that many who attended the event had never been to a 3-D movie. This is a good one for a visual maiden voyage because it was designed to create a world that seems to have real depth.
My review can be found in today's 7 section in The Fresno Bee. I want to know what Beehive readers think of the movie. Post your review in the comments. A few names will be randomly pulled to win some cool "Monsters vs. Aliens" prizes. You have until midnight Sunday.
If this is your first visit to the Beehive, this screening. along with the current Xbox system being given away next week as part of a "Watchmen" promotion, should give you an idea of the fun you can expect.
Check out the contest rules and photos from last night's fun screening below.

SO MUCH FUN!
Cute, funny movie...loved the Fresno shout outs! And the prize I won for answering the question about Rainn Wilson...THANKS, BEEHIVE!!!
Monsters vs. Aliens was the best, awsom, extream and super movie in my history. The funniest parts wer all over the movie and though out till the end. the best part was when they were fighting the clone aliens. The suprising part was whe the big funzz ball turned in to a giant fuzzy butterfly. the grose part was whe the president said, " I'm going to call this opertation brown, because I need to go change my pants." I also enjoyed how the aliens were always looking around. I give this movie two big monster thumbs up!

The 3-D effects in this movie were and will be what carry the film. There's a real simplicity to the story line which is completely geared towards kids. I remember seeing my first 3-D film at Disneyland with Captain EO and Monsters vs. Aliens completely blows this out of the water, very impressive.
All in all it's a cute movie that plays to the kid in ya and the evening was a blast! :)
Thank you BeeHive!
The movie was great! It had laughs for the whole family. Yes, the Fresno shout out got a lot of laughs but the movie as a whole was really good. Loved that it was in 3D! I haven't seen a ton of movies in 3D and it definitely made me want to see more in the future. Our family's favorite character was B.O.B. but I also loved the alien because I could totally see Dwight Schrute say some of the same things at Dunder Mifflin.
I was really sad you didn't call on me for the Reese Witherspoon question, Rick. I was ready to name some of the older movies she's been in, like "Fear" and "Freeway" (Which, by the way, stars Kiefer Sutherland too).
Thanks Beehive for a great time at the movies!
Awesome family movie. A must see for everyone to enjoy. Thank you Fresno Bee really enjoyed the experience of 3-D.
Enjoyed the movie very much. Go Fresno!!Thank you sooo much, my boys loved this movie.A very memorable movie. Thanks again Fresno Bee.
When did I lose my super bark?
Happy to hear the "Fresno" film is a success, and am sending my human sometime this weekend....or next since I don't know if Buddy's found enough cans to turn in yet.

I loved this movie! I had laughs for the whole family. I thought it was a fast paced basic storyline put together with a great cast and even better 3-D effects. I liked the way they didn't really try to bang us over the heads with the fact that the movie was in 3-D by throwing random things into the storyline to highlight it. The mention of Modesto and Fresno were super funny but one of my favorite parts was when the President (Stephen Colbert was hilarious) played the keyboard to welcome the aliens. Awesome!
This will be a memory I will keep with me for a long time. It was the first theater movie I saw with my son and he loved it.
Thank you Beehive for the tickets and experience. Next time, keep the blue goo. I am finding it all over my house.
I saw this with my 14 year old and we both found something to like about the movie.
Most fun, of course, were the references to California, the Central Valley, and most specifically, Fresno. Comparing Fresno to Paris may be a little bit of a stretch, but it was nice to see that the reference didn't QUITE go so far as to disparage our diverse and unique hometown. The good news is... we CAN laugh at ourselves in good-natured humor at this reference.
The 3D effects definitely kept us engaged throughout the film. Oddly, though, I found myself completely accustomed to it by the middle of the film, and it didn't seem to be quite so amazing by the end. It did enhance the experience, though.
The story is simple, but the execution is done well enough that adults can take their youngsters, have a great time, and have some good laughs.
This is definitely good family fare.
Great family movie - we had a great time Beehive. Thank you
You all forgot to invite me! So sad! Thats ok Im going in the afternoon anyways!
A must see for the whole family, Kiefer Sutherland did an outstanding job!
Picture of my lovies! Yey! THANK YOU THANK YOU Beehive!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie and I will definately go see it again. The theater was sold out last night at the Sierra Vista Cinemas. One of my favorite lines in the movie is when they were evacuating San Francisco at the Golden Gate Bridge. As cars were lining up to go through the toll both they were told "exact change appreciated, but not required." I couldn't stop laughing as I imagined our government during a real life evacuation charging a toll!
Thumbs down to the three teenagers sitting in the back row shouting out the punch lines to the jokes. Some people should not be allowed to go to the movies.
Our family thought the movie was great. The 3D effects were awesome. "BOB" was so funny we couldn't stop laughing. We would recommend this movie to kids and adults. Thank you again Fresno Beehive for allowing us the opportunity to see this great movie.

Alittle bit Wizard of Oz, a little bit 3-D! This film had everything. What a romp! Fresno use to be a good place to be "from." After Monsters v. Aliens, it's a regular tourist destination!
Great movie, it was very entertaining in 3D.
