Well, I got it half right. I predicted Alexis Grace would be in this week's bottom two on "American Idol," with Lil Rounds, and wondered if the judges would use the new rule: a one-time rescue of a singer from an elimination round.
Some see Alexis' exit as a shocker because she was an early favorite. Not me. Her version of "Jolene" was just OK. She and Michael Sarver dropped to the bottom. The judges gave Alexis a second shot, probably because she was an early favorite. But, after she plowed through "Jolene" again," it was a no go. At least it puts to rest the story that the fix was in, with Alexis part of the Final Four.
I still say Lil, another early favorite, should have been in the bottom two. She was oddly disconnected from the emotional song "Independence Day." We'll see how Lil and the others do next week.

:::sigh:::
Oh, Felicia. You are such a naive AI viewer. How people do from week to week doesn't necessarily affect voting. I think Anoop-dawg could suck next week and still get through with his fans. Kris the same.
Michael has no fans to speak of, and should be gone quite soon. Scott's fans will wear thin the longer he wears thin.
Allison is a rocker, and will drop at spot 5 or 6 as the rockers usually do, no matter how much I love her.
Danny and Lit-tul still go to the final 3.
We should watch together so we can debate over cocktails.
Still, it's kinda weird to have 7 boys and 3 girls going on the tour. For me, Matt and Kris kinda cancel each other out. Anoop and Scott aren't all that when it comes to singing. Michael really isn't a singer or a performer, and his daughter needs him at home.
Having said that? I'd buy Danny or Allison's album right now.
Stephen, you're much better at the prediction/strategy side of this show than I am. I'm just going by my response to these folks. My fave still is Danny, followed by Adam.
I agree about Michael, but it's also apparent that Allison has no fan base, which is too bad because she's got raw talent. (I also think that shade of reddish-pink hair is just too distracting.)
I'm not sure how long Anoop will last. I don't yet have a good handle on who he really is. And I don't really think much of Kris or Megan, but Matt could be interesting. I also think Lil Rounds better pull out all the stops next week for the Motown show.
One thing's for sure: The men are outshining the women.
Alexis was bad both weeks. Her Dirty Diana was a joke last week and this week was even worse. She had some skills in the audition phases so I don't know what happened to her.
I am not a fan of these theme weeks so far this season. We got Michael Jackson week when none of these folks is a true big-stage entertainer (at least not yet); we got country week with no country singers, and now we have Motown week which is just a chance for Simon to talk about hotel lobbies and cruise ships and karaoke bars. Ho-hum. Give me top 40 night early and often, or least decades to give these folks some opportunity to show who they are. As long as they leave Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber at home, I'll keep watching.
