Beehive Obsessions Vol. 4

entourage-08.jpg

You know how it is when you find something you love and instantly you want everyone you know to love it, too? Here is a list of things the Beehive is into at this very moment.

We invite you to share your obsession in the comments.

Mike Oz: It can only be one thing: "Entourage." You don't realize how much you miss Drama, E, Vince, Turtle and especially Ari until HBO brings them back into your life again on Sunday nights. It's the most fun 25 minutes anywhere on TV. Runner up shout-out goes to "Michael Bay" on Twitter, who has really made me laugh the last couple of days.

Kathy: I'm obsessed with finding a new book (or book series) to replace the void left by my Twilight obsession (that filled the void left by my Harry Potter obsession). Any suggestions?

Donald: I am obsessed with the election. I'm online almost the moment I'm awake in the morning scanning political blogs (left, right and center) for any morning news that's broken on the East Coast. I devour daily tracking polls. I scour the round-ups of pundits. I find myself reading arcane analyses of congressional district races in states I've never set foot in. I watch video of the day's major interviews, whether it's the ladies on "The View" duking it out politically or one of the candidates flubbing up with a potentially major gaffe. In fact, I find myself so wired in to the day's political news that by the time a story appears on a traditional media source such as The New York Times, I usually know what it is. What, oh what, will I do when the election is over?

Heather: In no particular order (and without explanation), I am currently obsessed with: Anthony Bourdain, pumpkins, not feeling sorry for Frida Kahlo, mimosas with breakfast, my friend (and fellow Clovis High graduate) Rachel Howard's personal essay in O magazine, "Sex and the City: the Movie" on DVD, new episodes of "The Office", and spending as much time in the pool as I can before it gets cold. Oh, and Western Bacon Cheeseburgers at Carl's Jr. (but not the natural-cut fries because they are teh suck. Worst fries ever).

House_pills.jpgFelicia: This is so easy: Robin Thicke's new CD, "Something Else." It's smooth and sexy and funky. As I wrote in my blog, he's a groove attack.

Will: I'm obsessed with TV. With the fall lineup in full gear, it's tough making sure everything gets DVR'd. Wednesday was "Pushing Daisies." The night before was "House." The night before was "How I Met Your Mother," "Chuck" and "Life." Last night, when "The Office" would have been, I watched the VP debate and my alma mater, U. South Florida, play a nationally televised college football game.

Oh, and the Tampa Bay Rays won their first-ever postseason game, which I watched on TV. Heather, the Internet is pretty sweet, but I still love sitting on my couch and letting my 42-inch LCD Vizio entertain me all day and night long.

Your turn. What's your obsession right now?

--first off, the article written by Heather's friend is cool, thanks for the link back there.

Obsessions? I think it's: short, interesting instrumental pieces of music. I need to come up with some, and am scouring old and new faves and trying to figure out what makes 'em interesting.
(Of course this is all about the impending Rogue Festival-----have all of you performing-types realized the application time is *now*? I know there's even Beehivers who will throw down the goods in March. Get them apps in.)

I have to say, H-Mac....those Natural Cut Fries aren't that bad but it made me miss the crappy fries of yesteryear Carl's Jr.

I have three key obsessions.
1) PEZ...I have over 500 dispencers, have taken trips to the PEZ Museum, and have attended three PEZ Conventions (I lost what few "cool points" I migh have had).

2) Following teams from my 5th and 6th grade decisions: Bears, Bulls, and BoSox...While I never lived in any of these cities I jumped on bandwagons for teams that were good only in a moment in time (Red Sox have come back to life)

3) Education. I can't get enough. I often say that Crack is a chaeper addition (obsession). I just did the math the other day and realized that I have been in school a total of 12 years after graduating high school...Man that Associates Degree is tough to nail down.

Bonus 4th:
Posting comments on the Beehive.

1. I am addicted to cabo wabo

thats it

I have two obsessions right now, one might seem a bit obscure.

I just picked me up a PS3 and broke it in with the awesomeness that is Iron Man (not as good as my swede, but I digress). So I've been getting blu-rays from Netflix just to see the movies in high def. I have Blade Runner waiting for me at home right now.

The second one, I was not being productive at work at surfing youtube when I found this band called Within Temptation. They are a Dutch band, kinda like Evanescence (lead singer is a woman) but way better. They are rock band that makes great use of a symphony. So I've been listenting to them for the past week or so, wearing a laser grove into the only cd I have.

And I'm with Travis. Posting stuff on the Beehive.

Copper wire. Must have copper wire....

My latest obsession is a book i'm reading by Vincent Bugliosi called "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder."
Oh and chicken fatoush salad from The Mediterranean Cafe downtown.
Oh, yeah, and Sarah Palin.
I Tivo'd the debates and my friends and I are going to play a drinking game where every time she says "Nucular" we take a shot. And when she winks at the camera, you gotta kiss the person to your left.
Who's in!?

fantasy sports. my teams are shi**y yet i'm obsessed with trying to find ways to make them better.

I call the seat to the left of Joey!

And I know the salad you are talking about Joey, it is pretty damn good. We had an office lunch meeting last week and got grub from the Mediterranean Cafe. Love their humus.

seems like there are alot of inside jokes going on in these blogs

weird.....

My Scrabble obsession has reared it's ugly head again. I've kept it under wraps mostly since high school, but then someone released an iPhone app. Now I'm digging up my lists of 2-letter words and words that are more than 2/3 vowels.

I've also been feeding my comics fiend recently with Berlin, PS238 and the upcoming Ender's Game series.

Kathy: I recommend the Stookie Stackhouse series to fill your reading void. Highly addictive. They are an adult version of the Hardy Boy mysteries only with vampires..

VICTORYYYYYYYYY!!!

I am obsessed with "The Wire." Over the years I have seen episodes here and there, but not having HBO I never was able to view in any sort of chronology (I think I have finally seen every "Sopranos" episode, more than a year after it ended). Being laid up with a broken leg I have plenty of time to read and watch TV, and luckily both are pastimes and escapes I really enjoy. My dear sister brought me the first four seasons of "The Wire" on DVD, and I've just been eating it up! Watching and rewatching each episode, reading up online so I don't miss a beat and enjoying the DVD extras (who knew Dominic "McNulty" West had a thick Irish brogue?). I've also watched the first 8 episodes of the final season of "The Shield," which is the most gripping TV ever written. I'm sure stir craziness will hit at some point, but right now I'm happier than a pig in doo-doo between all the politics and sports - go Sox! - and at the end of the day, sinking into "The Wire."

-learning all body parts (bone, muscle, nerves, systems, you got it, I name it,) by, um, the end of the semester, (gotta know da bones and muskels by the 15th...)

-videotape footage of 'September Fury' warming up in the early evening at Reno last month... (very cool footage.)

-getting 5.5 hrs of sleep per night.. (hah!)

-pedalling full tilt on my beach cruiser going under the traintracs at 'City,' trying to make it to class on time listening the 'Matrix' Remix of Zombie's 'Dragula.'

Resurfacing of eariler obsession
(cancel all previous)

-Dido

The girl reminds me why God gave me ears,
and why music was invented...
(considering 'here with me,' one of the best produced songs in the history of planet as we know it (Gabriel and Dresden Remix of 'Here with Me' a very close second...)

um, wait

What to do with EmmyLou Harris?
(hmmmph)

okay, I need to rework this,
but I think I can do such and still get to class in time.

Still?
Dido.

(note to self: Marry a woman who can sing.)
...though a cutie with brains and stunning eyes that can't carry a tune in a bucket is nothing to sneeze at.)

(an lookie here... Dido has a new album out at the end of the month.)

I win.

MKAY??? "Wet Revision" sounds just wrong, E.
BUT i'll make exceptions because i agree that dido has the voice of an angel. AND she's even better in concert. This album is waaay too long coming and i didnt even know about it! Thanks for the tip!

...you don't know half the names I've had to pass up there, cupcake...

-still, I wear the moniker with pride...
(I just have to watch what I write to whom... I mean, last week I got talkin about dragracing on one of Heather's posts, and even I got heavy breathin'.)

--and how's the knee doin, kid, --you gettin around alright?

(oh yeah, and I goofed on the Gabriel and Dresden track, it's not 'here with me,' it's
'Don't leave home.')
Find it, love it, you'll thank me later...
