First it was the trailer. That was the first horror to came from the updated Alvin and the Chipmunks (here forth known as The CGImunks) movie due in December. Today the soundtrack came across my desk.
And, well, the brains behind the CGImunks really just want to beat my childhood memories to death with a drum machine.
As if it weren't bad enough to have the CGImunks dressed up in hip-hop garb, the soundtrack has them making Britney Spears-ish dance tracks and covering Daniel Powter's "Bad Day."
In the middle are songs like "How We Roll," "Follow Me Now," and "Ain't No Party," which are as horrible as their generic titles suggest. To completely destroy anything that was cool about the real Chipmunks, you'll find 2007, blasphemy-filled makeovers of "The Chipmunk Song" and "Witch Doctor."
How bad is it? Go listen for yourself. Me? I'd prefer even T-Pain's vocoder to this sped-up nasally nonsense.
As many people know, the original (non-CGI) Chipmunks came
from the fertile mind of (Saroyan relative) Ross Bagdasarian (of FRESBURG). They used to cover versions of George Jones ("The Race is On", from Chimpunks A-Go-Go--)
and Lennon/McCartney (from "The Chipmunks Sing the Beatles").

OK i Love the chipmunks but the only thing i wish they did was keep the same cloths and give Alvin his cap back but other then that i love it you people don't know what good is. At least i'm a loyal fan unlike you
