The Friday Five: Pre-Halloween edition

Here's my picks for this weekend. Check the Music Roundup or the calendar for more options.

1. Tonight: Super Lucky Catz / Jay Rossette Project at Starline
Tonight marks the live return of the Super Lucky Catz, who were on a bit of a hiatus while vocalist Robert Barron-Gushel tried out for "American Idol." Plus, it's the group's first Friday night Starline appearance. [ flier ]

2. Tonight: Bootie Quake at Dante Club
The Dirty Olive sponsors this Halloween Bash at Dante Club tonight with touring band Bootie Quake, which covers '70s favorites with a flavor all its own. [ flier ]

3. Saturday: Don Omar / Pepe Aguilar at our dueling arenas
Two big-name Latin music performers with vastly different styles perform. There's the reggaeton giant Omar at Save Mart Center, and traditional Mexican music star Pepe Aguilar at Selland Arena. [ more ]

4. Saturday: Fresno Doesn't Suck comedy night at Scoreboards
The Fresno Doesn't Suck clothing line hosts another night of local stand-up comics Saturday at Scoreboards. Performing: Rick Roddam, Boney Beezly, Chris Devold, Aimee O., Dave Reynolds and Christian, the 13-year-old comedian.

5. Monday: Ugly People Be Quiet at Club Fred
OK, I'm cheating a little on this one since it's a Monday event, but it promises to be a nice night of underground-ish hip-hop at Club Fred. Santa Cruz-by-way-of-Visalia emcee Coley Cole makes a rare Fresno stop. He'll perform with the Skinny Fat Kids and the Havenots. [ flier ]
