Guns 'N' Roses hit the Save Mart Center on Sept. 27

Guns 'N' Roses -- well, what's left of the troubled yet seminal '80s hard rock group, anyway -- will make a Fresno stop on its upcoming U.S. tour.

The Save Mart Center announced on Monday afternoon that Axl Rose and Co. are scheduled to perform on Sept. 27. Tickets will go on-sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, with ticket prices of $39.75, $50.75 and $76.75.

Frontman Rose is the only member of the original GnR lineup that's playing in this recent incarnation. Filling out the band are Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman (keybards) Tommy Stinson (bass) Brian Mantia (drums) and Robin Finck, Richard Fortus and Ron Thal (guitar).

Guns 'N' Roses impacted in 1987 with the now-classic "Appetite for Destruction," and sat atop the rock 'n' roll heap until grunge took over in the early 90s.

Since then, trouble and turmoil has followed the band, especially Rose, whose unpredictable behavior has been the downfall of many GnR revivals. In May, Axl and GnR went on a European tour, the band's first appearance since a botched 2002 tour.

So the question is, would you check out the Axl-only GnR for almost $80? For $40?

I will see GNR for $40, for sure. For $55, even. For $80, maybe. Any more than that and it gets really questionable. But that would be any show.

Even if it's just Axl, IT's AXL! It's 'Night Train,' and 'Rocket Queen,' and 'My Michelle.' One of the best rock and roll albums of all time. I still listen to that tape in my car.

One can always hope that he'll call in sick and we get to see Sabatian Bach instead! hehe. It would be like seeing David Lee Roth without Van Halen. Not so good. Sammy Hagar with all of the rest of the Van Halen band? Very good.

I saw GnR when then played at the Old Town Saloon downtown. Anyone remember that concert? Tickets were like $12 bucks each and you spent all night dodging beer and climbing up a ramp to keep from being trampled. Also trying to see if his unlaced leather pants were going to fall off. haha. Were they any good? I don't remember to be honest. Too much of a three-ring circus feel but it was good times.

I took my kid to see Velvet Revolver. It was her first real rock concert. Now that was a great show. Scott Weiland did a good job on the old GnR songs. And seeing Slash....wow.

May just save my money and wait to see the local GnR tribute band at the end of September at the Crossroads.

Friday morning the first email I read was the TicketMaster GNR PreSale Tickets were going on sale at 10am that morning. I postponed all phone calls and interruptions until I got those tickets online. Ten o'clock rolled around, and guess what? I didn't have the PreSale password to buy 'em. *tear

Sunday morning I was up and at 'em to get me those tickets. Alas, those were also sold out. Two dates at The Warfield: SOLD OUT. *tear *tear

Monday morning I read an email that tickets are still available for two GNR shows at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas. I think, "Oh man! This is going to be AWESOME!" Yeah, for um, $150 a pop, not including airfare, hotel (on a weekend in vegas... easily $200 a night!) and food (ok, drinks)? No thanks. *tear *tear *tear

Let me say, i saw them two nights agoo at the warfield .... If you have to pay 200$ pay it. U cant go on with life without seeing this show. They played 28songs including 3 new ones. Axel sounded just like studio back his hay day axel, i couldnt believe it. Pay whatever it is and you will not regret it. I payed 100 and got balcony seats, which is awsome. trust me whomever reads this. This was the first time I had the opportunity to see them and i feel VERY COMPLETE now . i was just 16 in 95 when they toured last.
