Jim Franklin, senior pastor at Cornerstone Church, says one can't make an argument against "The Da Vinci Code" without seeing it. So he organized an opening night viewing at River Park's Regal Cinemas for his church members. They bought out a screen and he spoke afterward, basically debunking any notion that the theories mentioned as part of the novel and film's subplot are true. Other Valley moviegoers caught the theological thriller, starring Tom Hanks, on Friday, as well. In
this Beehive original video feature, you'll meet Pastor Jim at the theater and then later at his own coffee shop at the corner of Cedar and Herndon.

I find it odd, to say the least, that this movie get negative feedback from the Christian community and 2004's "The Passion of the Christ" received such praise. I also am left to wonder how the Indiana Jone's movies would be received in today's society... it's all fiction, don't fret over it.
Besides, who is to say that questioning one's faith is a bad thing? I'd call it healthy.
So what "argument" is Pastor Franklin proposing to make against the movie? Poor character development? Weak plot line? Bad casting? Or is he arguing that this work of fiction is, well, fiction?
Per Mike's query on the term "argument" in the blog entry:
The implication is that there are people who are making arguments against the film. Mostly that it's a work of fiction, despite claims that the book's author, Dan Brown, uses the word "fact" to precede a list of questionable items. But those people aren't seeing the film; they are boycotting it. Pastor Franklin is choosing to see the film, and he's encouraging others who are curious about it to see it, as well.
