In a recent column I mentioned a conversation that I had at my favorite sushi restaurant, not realizing how much interest there is in sushi in this town. Several local sushi aficionados have asked for my Top-10 list. So here are a couple of my favorites in a city that has several great sushi places: Sushi' N Pop at Cedar and Barstow and Sakanaya at Fort Washington and Friant. Now it's your turn to complete the Top-10 list. What are your fave Fresno sushi restaurants?

I'm a big fan of Zipangu at Shaw and West (right by China Chili). The staff is friendly and the sushi master is always ready to to take on a challenge or suggest something new. Now if they could just get their remodeled sushi bar open (last phone call we were told the bar might open this weekend).
Yoshino's in Riverpark. I like the atmosphere, the chefs are friendly and they make such a wide variety of items.
We had the all you can eat buffet at Sendai Sushi (Cedar and Nees) over the weekend and enjoyed it thoroughly. Pretty much their whole menu's available for the buffet-- it made for a very tasty and well spent Sunday afternoon. Service was also very good.
I love Sushi Day at First and Nees. It's tucked back in the corner of the Von's parking lot. They've got great sushi specials and creative new rolls.
Helen and I love sushi but have only been to one sushi bar/restaurant in Fresno -- Edo-Ya on the NW corner of Marks and Shaw. The place is popular and the sushi quite good, with ample portions. The rolls are unique and there are always daily specials. We are now looking forward to trying the recommendations of your readers. Fresno is now ready for a local restaurant guide.
My all time favorite sushi bar was in Arcadia, CA -- Mako Sushi. After they got to know me -- that I liked anything and everything that was well prepared -- upon being seated at the bar, the waitress (wife of the master chef) would automatically bring me green tea (lunch time), or sake (dinner time). Then the chef would, at a measured pace, place 'whatevers' on my platter -- whatever he thought I would like, something different, something very fresh -- whatever. I rarely asked for anything or looked at a menu. Much of what I enjoyed was not even on the menu. It was fabulous...!! I became spoiled.

I'll cast a second vote for Sushi Day. The rolls are huge, and they always greet you enthusiastically.
Me and my friends eat at Yoshinos all the time. Their sushi is good! And the chefs are really nice. Its prices are decent.
Yoshino's is the worst. The weekend service is lackluster, there is no indoor seating other than directly at the bar, and my Futo-Maki fell apart when attempting to pick it up. The prices are a bit higher than comparable sushi places. I don't see why everyone claims this place is so excellent. Sumurai and Sushi and Pop are much better.
yoshino's is HORRIBLE! for anyone that knows good sushi, it's not there! dry and and lackluster. but even worse is Japanese Kitchen.
by far the best sushi places i've tasted in fresno are sendai at cedar/herndon, sushi 'n' pop at cedar/barstow and edo-ya has such a beautiful atmosphere - marks/shaw!
open later than most sushi bars? samurai at cedar/shephard.
